Mask Requirement Update

With the encouragement of the Valley View COVID-19 steering team, masks will be required as you enter and exit our worship services starting July 16, 2020. All members and guests are asked to follow the following guidelines:

1. Wear a mask that covers your mouth and nose as you enter and exit our facilities. Once you are seated and safely socially distanced, you may remove your mask (though we encourage everyone to wear a mask for the duration of the service.)

2. Masks are optional for grade-school children and below at the discretion of their parents.

3. Please maintain social distancing at all times as this is the greatest resource we have in slowing the spread of the virus.

It is our hope and prayer that we will be able to mitigate the spread of the virus and demonstrate care and concern for those that feel unsafe in a social setting without masks.

For whatever reason, masks have become politicized and divisive all across America; however, it should not be so in the church. I love what Paul wrote in Ephesians 4:1-3 “Therefore I, the prisoner in the Lord, urge you to walk worthy of the calling you have received, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”

My goal is to guard the freedom we have to meet together in person (even if on a smaller scale.) Our local medical officials and our state leaders are asking us all to do our part in stemming the spread of the virus.

I ask that you remain faithful to the church through our worship services whether in person or online. We pray God’s blessings on you and your family.

Love in Christ,
Bro. Billy

Alabama Public Health Department Guidelines

It is important that we follow the Alabama Public Health Department’s guidelines for places of worship:

  • If you have been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, are experiencing a cough, shortness of breath or sore throat, have had a fever in the last 48hrs, have experienced new loss of taste or smell, have experienced vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24hrs or been in contact with anyone who has had any of these symptoms, we ask that you participate in our services remotely.
  • We strongly encourage people 65 or older and anyone who is especially at risk to participate in our services remotely.
  • Everyone who attends on-campus worship services will be expected to practice social distancing. Please no handshaking, hugging, etc. Every other row in the worship center will be clearly marked as “closed”. Please do not sit on any row that is marked as such. Two or more members of the same household can sit next to one another. There should be at least 2 empty seats between families. Masks are optional.
  • We will have a team of volunteers to disinfect surfaces such as door handles and seating between services on Sunday. Hand sanitizer will be available at the welcome center desk.
  • Offering plates will not be passed during services. We will provide collection baskets in the Commons and Worship Center. You can continue to give online or drop off during church office hours. You may also mail your offering to the church.
  • Coffee will not be served. Drinking fountains will be closed.
  • Please enter and exit through the Worship Center doors. All other exterior doors will remain locked. Please use the restrooms nearest the Worship Center. We will adjust these guidelines as needed.
